Fleetio is looking for a product-minded and customer-focused Software Engineer with a passion for solving technical problems and helping people. You will play a key role in supporting our API by addressing questions and helping developers leverage our API.

Our ideal candidate is someone with strong communication skills and the ability to debug issues and develop solutions as needed to resolve issues. You will be working with a great group of engineers who will provide a ton of guidance and support to be successful in the role!

What you'll be doing

As an API Support Engineer on the engineering team, you will:
  • Primarily help support our pubic facing API
  • Work with developers (external and internal), customers, and our internal support team to help support our API and our application
  • Collaborate with our software engineers to develop and release fixes as necessary
  • Respond to questions or issues from our internal support team about functionality and internal working by peering through code
  • Provide on-call support as needed for our applications which involves troubleshooting issues, routing them as necessary to appropriate individuals and/or teams, and helping write post-mortem reports
  • Contribute to and update API documentation as necessary

  • 1+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Experience building and consuming APIs
  • Understanding of CSS frameworks and modern JavaScript/ES6+
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming and relational databases, such as PostgreSQL
  • Strong passion for helping people with technical issues
  • Nifty at troubleshooting issues and identifying the root cause
  • Passion and eagerness to learn applications and tools
  • Demonstrate high ownership to ensure issues are resolved
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Considered a plus
  • Prior experience in a tech support role
  • Prior experience with troubleshooting and debugging
  • You know a thing or two about the Fleet industry
